Luau w/the Branch

Yesterday, the singles branch we were in (Dennis was in the branch presidency) held a luau and we were invited. It was a lot of fun, other than the fact that Austin had kept us up most of the night before because he had a tummy ache and I can't even tell you how many diapers we had to change or how much screaming we had to endure because of the rash. This was right after a discussion w/my sister-in-laws about how Austin must have an iron stomach because he eats EVERYTHING imaginable and never gets sick. ;)
So, other than being tired, we had a blast. I felt bad for Austin, he's usually so busy and wants to do everything, but he obviously didn't feel very good, because he just kept asking to go home. We took some breaks throughout the day and by that evening he seemed to be doing a little better. I hate when he's sick, I feel so bad for him. We just kept pumping him with water and gatorade all day, and I think that really helped.
The other counselor in the branch is a deputy sheriff, so he had one of his officers come over and do a police dog demonstration. I think if they did that for assemblies at school, there would definitely be less delinquency. Those dogs are scary!! All the kid had on was a big puffy suit, no helmet and the dog just would attack and release immediately on command. It was pretty amazing. dogs are so smart. Austin played on the swings and actually stayed on without screaming like a little girl! He usually HATES swings, so this was great!
Next, they rode horses. Austin LOVES animals, especially horses, so he was soooo excited. The horse was being a little naughty at first, so he had to get on a few different times throughout the day. We went home and took a three hour nap as a family, and that was so needed! We were all pooped!
That evening we went over for dinner, Austin rode around w/Pres. Price on the four wheeler while we got some food. They dug a pit at 6 AM that morning and had been roasting a whole pig in it all day. If we hadn't seen them butchering it and pulling out all the nasty parts, I think I would have really enjoyed it. Dennis had an attempt at the snout...
After dinner and dessert we just visited, I miss everyone in there so much, with it being a branch, it's much more like a family, the group is so tight-knit. I loved it! Not that we don't like our ward now, it was just good to feel that closeness again. They had a brief fireside and then we took Austin home for jammies and went back over for a bonfire and smores. I LOVE SMORES!
What a great day!
So, Happy Father's Day...
Confession--I hate bacon, I never have liked the taste or the smell, I know it's weird to most of you, but it's all fat and stinky and gross. I asked Dennis what he wanted for breakfast and it was bacon and eggs and toast. I let him sleep a little longer and then started cooking, but it really didn't turn out the way I remember my Mom's bacon looking. I can't cook bacon!! Dennis was so excited but took one bite and spit it right back out. Well, hopefully he won't ask me to cook it for him ever again now! That wasn't the original plan, but I think it worked out great for me!

Sounds like a blast! I love Luaus! YUm YUM YUMMMY! We had one at a ward activity way back when Bryce was Austin's age and I still remember that succulant meat. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

I hope Austin is better!

I'm so glad you found my blog. I have been thinking about you, but had no idea what your last name was now. your little boy is cute and i'm so excited for you to have another one. 2 is a handful, but not as big of an adjustment as the first one. That's great that you are a dental hygenist and good luck to your husband with law school. Law School is hard work, but I think it will be worth it. Keep in touch and I can't wait to see the new babe.

I have the same feelings about bacon. So I buy the pre-cooked stuff. It's pretty inexpensive and you just have to heat it up for 20 seconds in the microwave. Spencer can't even tell the difference.
