Grayson is one week old today. I can't believe how different everything was with him than Austin. I had an easier labor and delivery, my milk came in 3 days vs 5, he does pretty well at night (we've only had one bad night so far and 2 sleepless nights--bad one included), his jaundice cleared up faster, I didn't have to go to school yesterday for 40 hours a week (!), I'm healing so much better...the list could go on and on. I love both of my boys so much, (well, 3 technically) they make me so happy and so grateful to be a mother. What a blessing.
Anyway, Grayson has been steadily gaining weight, after going down to 8, 7 when we left the hospital. He's gained at least 5 ounces. He's adorable. Austin is so cute with him, he loves his baby brother so much! He wants to hold him all day long. It gets a little tiring, but I'm trying to let him be as involved as possible. We were running up to the hospital every day from Friday to yesterday because of jaundice. I'm so glad his levels finally went down. Everyone has been so helpful with bringing delicious meals, taking Austin, Emily came and scrubbed the tub (thank you so much, you're an angel!). Dennis's family has been here so much to help.
Dennis will finish his bachelor's degree tomorrow!! I'm so proud of him! He's done such a good job! We're still waiting to hear back from U of I, but right now no news seems to be good news. What a great guy I married! He's been so helpful with the baby and I love to watch his relationship with Austin grow and get better and better. They are buddies, and I love it.
I'll be going back to work, 1 day a week for 4 hours starting next weds. I'm a little anxious, but I think it will be okay and will help me adjust to having to be gone. In 4 more weeks I'll go back to my 20 hours. It will be fine. I don't know how I went from having Austin, staying home for a week and then back to school for 40 hours a week. I pumped and nursed and everything and I really am amazed that I did that, since I'm wondering how I"m going to handle this adjustment. I'm sure it will all be fine and the boys will be with Dennis, so they'll be in very loving, capable hands. I really do have an amazing hubby, I'd have to say he's one in a million.
Anyway, I'm so glad to have the baby here, although right now it feels like I got kicked by a horse in a very sensitive area...
Mom's good, Grayson's good, Austin's good, Daddy's good.
