One Year

Grayson turned one this Wednesday. I can hardly believe it! Time flies, doesn't it? He is such a sweet little baby, he has made me hungry for more babies from day one. We just love this little guy! Anyway, what a busy weekend. Friday, Dennis came home from work early--he threw his back out pretty badly. So, pain meds + muscle relaxers= no Dennis. I was supposed to leave to Lava for Youth Conference at 5. I had already missed floating the river...(I'm okay with that--things have changed a little since I've had kids). So, thanks to my friend Melanie, and my mother in law, I was able to leave my kids with my incapacitated husband. This is the first time I've spent the night away from the kids. I cried the first five minutes in the car, then prayed really hard that they'd be okay and that I'd be able to enjoy myself. Minus the rock I slept on, I had a great time, thanks Michelle and all you crazy kids and other leaders! We had a blast. We got up at 6 and the kids went for a morning hike and I headed for home to take care of my still nursing child. I got in the door and heard his mama cry. Back to sleep he went and I went to work, baked two cakes and a dozen cupcakes, which almost all got eaten at the party (lots of hungry family).

My brother Jared and sister in law Asia and her mom Lanny all came and spent the night with Dennis and really helped a lot that afternoon when we had to put together tons of shish kabobs! Anyway, cakes baked, chicken marinating, veggies cut, potato salad almost made, breakfast, done, and back to Lava I went, this time with Austin to go to the pool with the kids. We stood in line for 20 minutes, and then got into the pool. Austin clung to me like crazy. I'm getting him into swimming lessons this week if it kills me! So, back home, showered, got the cake decorated, the canopy up (thanks Carin) and the new volleyball net up, which ended up not getting used too much due to Dennis's bad back. : (

Anyway, I think everything turned out so great, thanks to everyone who helped so much. I needed all the help I could get with such a busy weekend! I'm so glad everyone was able to be there. Grayson LOVED his little cupcake and loved his party hat even more! Seriously, thanks Heather and Andrea and Asia and Lanny for all of your help, and Jared, and Mike and Ray and Lis and and and and... thanks guys, I loved it and hope all of you did too!
